Classical Delight Concert

839_classical - April 2

Classical Delight concert lovers have another entertaining evening to look forward to when the next concert is held at Belair Community Centre on Thursday, April 2, from 8:00pm.

The violin accordion recital concert will feature Eva Ingolf on violin and Andi Kristins on accordion. The two will be playing music from composers Bach, Piazzolla, Baggio, Ingolf, Kristins, Joe Gianono and Jason Ulysses Da Silva.

Ingolf is a well-known Icelandic violinist particularly recognised for her authoritative performances of solo works by J. S. Bach. She comes from a leading musical family: Her father Ingólfur Guðbrandsson premiered many of the great choral works in Iceland and six of her sisters and brothers are professional musicians who have made an important contribution to the high quality of the musical life in the country. Ingolf currently lives in New York City with her husband Kristinn Sv. Helgason (an official of the United Nations Secretariat) and their daughter Andrea Kristinsdóttir (a musician and actress).

In her 23 years, Icelandic musician Kristins has lived in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Japan and all over the United States. Her beginnings were in classical music, and in bridging that world with the world of electronic music, she has created a spine for herself: a sound that is at once familiar and distinctly hers alone.

Her music was once quoted as being "uncluttered, beautiful and simply breathtakingly joyous feel good music...like a pampering to the senses that a long soak in a bubbly bath or a big fluffy pillow brings to a tired and weary head... pure magic."

The violin and accordion recital concert is being produced by Classical Delight Foundation, which will continue to entertain St. Maarten with good classical music. The Foundation organises several classical music concerts per year, including free school concerts.

Tickets for the April 2 concert cost US $30 for adults and $12 for children and students at the door. Students must walk with their student cards. Pre-sale tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and students. Tickets are available at The Daily Herald, Shipwreck Shop on Front Street, La Vista Resort in Pelican, Pianissimo in Marigot and Van Dorp in Simpson Bay.
