School soccer continues high scoring matches

soccerBELVEDERE--Ronil Garcia scored twice as Sr. Regina blasted past Sr. Magda Rockstars in the Seven+ Under division of the 21st edition of the Interscholastic Soccer Tournament at the Cruyff Court in Belvedere, Saturday. Sr. Regina won 4-0; Kars Kerssies added one goal to the tally and had two assists.

A total of 14 schools, fielding 38 teams, compete in the annual tournament organised by the St. Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation.

 

7+Under

Sr. Magda Greenboys jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead over Learning Unlimited Strikers in the second 7+U game of the day. One of the three was an own goal. Strikers rallied in the second half to tie the game. Komarr Fraties and Owen Christian scored for Greenboys while Ghassan Yousef had two goals for Strikers. Teammate Gabriel Sequaris was good for one.

 

9+Under

Jason Arandell netted three and Derrick Neale scored twice as they led Dr. Martin Luther King school to their first victory of the competition. The Dr. King team defeated Leonald Conner school 6-1 in the 9+U divisions. The lone goal scorer for Conner was Philando Parchment off an assist by Iverson Powell.

Oliver Hobgood scored six goals and Grant Caputo was good for five as Learning Unlimited powered past Sr. Magda Energetics in the second 9+Under match. Learning Unlimited won 16-1. D’Angelo Bute scored for Energetics.

 

13+Under Group A

Leonald Connor School scored five times in the first half and five more in the second to crush Hillside Christian 10-0 in the 13+Under group. Marlon Lopez and Derrick Wilson led the winning effort each recording three goals and two assists. Isael Medina and Austel Richardson both added a pair to the tally.

 

15+Under

Caribbean International Academy squeezed past St. Dominic High School in the 15+Under division 4-2. Matthew Dookie top scored for CIA with two goals. James Cook and Himanshu Kotai netted one each for St. Dominic.

In the second 15+Under game Milton Peters College man-handled Learning Unlimited. MPC won 11-2 with Jaeremi Drijvers leading the winning effort with six goals and an assist. Daricia Arrindell scored both goals for LU.

 

Girls 13+Under

Rawlisha Busby scored a hat trick as Sr. Magda cruised past Leonald Conner in the Girls 13+Under Division. Sr. Magda won 6-0.

In the second division match up Sr. Regina defeated Hillside Christian 11-1. Jiarah Drijvers and Aichelle Peters both scored three goals in the winning effort. The lone Hillside goal was netted by Caelin Rohiemon.

 

Girls 18+U

In the Girls 18+U MPC bested Soualiga FC White 6-1. Odessa Solomon found the back of the goal five times. The sixth MPC goal was scored by Shamika Arrindell.

The Interscholastic Soccer Tournament will continue next week Saturday at 8:30am.
