Leonald Conner Girls head to soccer final

soccerBELVEDERE— Leonald Conner Girls advanced to the final of the Interscholastic Soccer Tournament at Cruyff Court, Saturday. Organised by St. Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation, the School Tournament is in its 20th year.

Leonald Conner, ranked number two after the first round, defeated number three Sister Magda 6-0. Sharina Kook and Katherine Baptiste both scored three goals in the wining effort. Leonald Conner will now face the winner of the May 18 match between number one seed Sister Regina and number four Hillside Christian. The Final is scheduled for June 1.

Sister Magda will play the loser of the May 18 match for third place.

 7 and Under

Leron Campbell and Iverson Powell netted two balls each as they propelled Leonald Conner to victory in the Seven and Under Division. Leonald Conner bested Sister Magda Greenboys 4-0.

 13 and Under

Jaeremi Drijvers scored four times as Milton Peters College United cruised past Sister Regina 11-1 in the 13 and Under Division. Lens Charles scored the lone goal for Sister Regina off an assist by Nathan Charlie.

Leonardo Knol and Kael Richards were on fire as MPC Stars faced Leonald Conner in the second 13 and Under match up. Knol and Richards found the back of the net five times, each, as Stars shone bright 11-1. Marlon Lopez scored the first goal of the game for Leonald Conner.

 9 and Under

In the Nine and Under group, two undefeated teams faced off. Ties Kerssies scored three times and had an assist as teammates Noah Ledee and Jean Jacques Craane both netted two each as Combined School Team bested Learning Unlimited. Combined won 8-3. Jan Lucas van der Plaas and Kevin Schuurman scored for Learning Unlimited. The third strike has an own goal.

 Champions League

Sister Magda booked their spot in the Champions League Final with a 7-5 win over Sister Regina. Sister Magda will face Leonald Conner for the Title June 1. Leonald Conner had secured a spot in the final finishing the round with nine points. Going into Saturday’s game

Sister Magda and Sister Regina both had six points.   Quincy Wijngaarde and Diaro Forsythe both scored a pair of goals in the winning effort.   Isaiah Snijders was good for three for Sister Regina.
