CIA scores four hat tricks in one game

schoolBELVEDERE— Hat tricks were the name of the game as Caribbean International Academy devastated a shell shocked Genevieve de Weever in the 13 and Under division of the Interscholastic Soccer Tournament at Cruyff Court, Saturday. Shomar Brookson, Danny He, Matthew Dookie, Malcom Martes and Vivik Sabrani each netted three a piece as CIA won 18-0.

Organized by St. Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation, the School Tournament is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

13 and Under

Jaeremi Drijvers scored seven goals as he led Milton Peters College to an 11-3 win over Leonald Conner in the !3 and Under division. Teammate Ezekiel Gumbs was good for an additional three goals. MPC jumped out to a 7-2 first half lead. Marlon Lopez, Derick Wilson and James Mathew scored for Leonald Conner.

11 and Under

Down 2-1 at the half, Quincy Wijngaarde netted a hat trick to help Sister Magda Football Club salvage a 4-4 draw against Hillside Christian in the 11 and Under Division.

Injuries plagued Sister Magda Dribble Champions as they faced Leonald Conner School in 11 and Under. Sister Magda lost centre fielder Keanu Tjon in the first half and Randymar de Suza suffered an ankle injury in the second half. With no replacements Tjon returned to the field as keeper. Leonald Conner won 4-2. Hemproy Williams scored twice for the Conner team while Anthony Mingo and Curtis Moniz scored for Dribble Champions.

Jeahru Richardson and Diaro Forsythe scored three goals each as they led the Sister Magda United Stars 11 and Under team to victory over Sister Regina 7-1. Isaiah Snijders netted the lone goal for Regina School of an assist by Matteo Piscionne.

9 and Under

Sister Magda's two 9 and Under division teams faced off Saturday. Athletes won the contest against Energetics 12-1. Robert Halman scored six times and Paul Speetjens was good for four in the winning effort. D'Angelo Bute scored for Energetics.

Sister Regina jumped out to a 9-0 half time lead against Charles Leopold Bell in the 9 and Under division. In an act of sportsmanship Sister Regina offered a "Mercy Rule" end to the match. The second half was played as a Friendly.

Ties Kerssies scored six goals and had four assists and teammate Jean Jacques Craane added four goals to the winning tally as Combined School breezed past Leonald Conner 12-5 in the 9 and Under division. Gamy Charles netted four for Leonald Conner.

Kevin Schuurman scored four times as Learning Unlimited erased a 3-2 half time deficit to come back and win 6-3 against Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School in the in the 9 and Under division.

D'Angelo Thompson gave the King School the early lead netting a first half hat trick.

The Interscholastic soccer tournament will continue on Saturday, March 16.
